The
late Bishop Ramsey Butler
In 1929, Bishop
Butler was baptized in the Name of Jesus and received the Gift
of the Holy Ghost. He was installed in 1936 as the second Pastor
of the Morning Star Pentecostal Church. Bishop Butler was a member
of the Pentecostal Assemblies of the World. In this organization
he served as District Elder of the Eastern Fellowship Alliance
and Diocesan of the 22nd Episcopal District -- District of Columbia,
-Delaware, and Maryland. Bishop Butler was bestowed an honorary
Doctorate of Divinity by the Aenon Bible College. Under Bishop
Butler's inspired leadership, Morning Star moved progressively
forward from one room in a modest home to a site known as the "Old
Southwest Clinic" and now to its present location. In 1986,
after 51 years of untiring service as Pastor, Bishop Butler retired.
He retained the title of Bishop Emeritus with the Pentecostal Assemblies
of the World until his death on February 7, 1998. Bishop Butler
will always be an integral part of Morning Star's history.

Bishop
Charles E. Johnson, Sr.
Pastor of Greater Morning Star
Bishop Johnson
was baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ on December 31,
1976 and received the gift of the Holy Ghost on January 10, 1977.
He married Sister Sheila Yvonne Chamberlain on August 19, 1978,
and God blessed this union with four beautiful children: Charles,
Jr., Michael, Lawrence, and Lora.
On November of
1978, Minister Johnson preached his trial sermon, and on April
6, he was installed as Pastor of Greater Star.
Bishop Johnson
is a member of the Pentecostal Assemblies of the World. He faithfully
supported this organization in the following ways:

Elder
Fletcher Davis
Assistant Pastor of Greater Morning Star
Elder
Fletcher Lee Davis received the precious promised gift of the Holy
Ghost 31 years ago. Elder Davis is a man who believes in being
submissive to God and to leadership, and promotes an attitude of
a servant. He has served as Sunday School teacher, deacon, and
currently, he is Director of the Ministerial Congress. He is married
to Beverly and has four children-Andrea Watkins, Anthony, Tamara,
and Gregory.

John I. Hickman
Dean, Ministerial Congress
Elder
Hickman, a native of Chicago, joined Greater Morning Star in 1986.
In addition to serving as Dean of the GMS Ministerial Congress
Training Institute, he serves in the following capacities: Associate
Minister, Counselor, New Members Sunday School Teacher, Christian
Education Instructor, Jessup and Oakhill Prison Ministry Member, Missionary
and Christian Workers Auxiliary Member. |
